Eliminate the factory strut rods and add adjustable forward control arm mounts, increasing stability, improving steering response and adding over 2″ of ground clearance for your early 64-66 Ford Mustang. By eliminating the bind of factory strut rods, you are able to maintain proper alignment with the use of lock out plates and gain a free working up and down motion in the lower control arms. This results in better ride quality and positive road feedback.

CPPs kits accommodate both the factory sway bar and aftermarket 1″ bars (1-1/8″ bars will not fit). The one-piece crossmember ties both frame rails together where the factory strut rod mounts were located, providing additional strength. It also adds only 2lbs to the car after removing the heavy factory strut rods and bulky strut rod mounts. There is no cutting or welding required. The rear of the lower control arm mounts in the factory location and the original camber adjustments are used. The front of the lower control mounts to the new crossmember and adds a forward caster adjustment to guarantee a perfect, simple and hassle-free alignment.

CPP’s Totally Tubular upper control arms come pre-assembled with billet chromoly 4130 cross shafts and pivot sleeves and are constructed of 1-1/4″ .120 Wall DOM tubing with 1-1/2″ .188 Wall pivot barrels. The continuous round cross section adds torsional rigidity and the 1-1/2 .188 wall pivot barrels ensure the pivots will stay true and operate with maximum efficiency. CPP’s exclusive pivot bushings are a patented self lubricating plastic that will not squeak, and have a working temperature of over 400 degrees. These plastic bushings refused to break during impact testing and can absorb high shock loads that would otherwise be transferred through the chassis. Additionally, the billet cross shafts and pivot sleeves are captured on both sides of the bushing, unlike original units which only retained one side of the bushing under the bolt head. This interlocking shaft and sleeve design that prevents the bolts from working loose even under severe stress created by hard corning and as a result of the bushings being fully contained, the arms are strengthened even further. Any forces that would make other arms twist and flex are transferred through the bushings and easily handled by the billet cross shaft.

This kit includes a set of Totally Tubular upper and lower control arms, a bolt-in 1/4″ steel cross member with forward mounting, 4 alignment cam kits, grade 8 hardware, CPP’s low friction, long life bushings and CPP’s new premium lower ball joints. Finally, the kit is finished in a silver powder coat for durability and longevity.

As seen on Mustang Monthly’s “Week to Wicked” ’66 Mustang build, CPP’s brand new drop leaf springs fit traditional 3″ axle tubes commonly found with Ford 8- and 9-inch rear ends. Assembled with teflon buttons for a smooth, quiet ride, these performance leaf springs will give you a 1″ drop.

Sway bars are an integral part of any suspension upgrade and can make a world of difference in the way your car handles, especially when paired together properly. CPP’s rear Pro-Touring sway bar mounts directly to the frame and clamps solidly to the rear axle, providing a more positive connection to the rear suspension than a traditional sway bar, increasing the positive handling characteristics of the rear sway bar while also increasing the positive characteristics of the front sway bar. CPP’s sway bar kits come with everything needed to install and are finished in a black powdercoat for durability and longevity.

Rounding out your PTK-1 setup is a set of front and rear Monroe shocks with a pair of front drop coil springs. CPP coil springs are made of cold wound chrome-silicon wire and black powder coated to resist corrosion. These springs will give you a 1.5″ drop in the front to complement your 1″ drop rear leaf springs, while the Monroe nitrogen gas shocks will smooth out your ride and provide the handling you need to take full advantage of the benefits of the updated pro-touring suspension.
