eBay Here is a rare, most likely one of a kind, 8×10 Century Studio Camera. I have never seen another camera like this one or one offered like it any of the Century catalogs. The front of the camera has been totally redesigned to have a massive 12 inches of front rise much greater than the Sky Scraper cameras of that time. The camera has bellows length of a little over 36″ when extended. The bellows do have some tiny pinhole leaks but nothing that can’t be repaired. The lens board is 9″x9″ and the opening is approx 3 3/8″. The 8×10 ground glass is intact. The camera track extends fine. The movements all work fine. The two knobs on either side of the front rise are not original. The sliding back is a #7 Sliding Century back. It does still slide but the lever is missing that pulled the engagement member away from its engagement slot to allow it to slide so I had to use a screwdriver to pull it back to allow it to slide. One theory I have heard that could explain this camera, is that it might have been customized by Laben Deardorff early in his career. I have been told that before Laben Deardorff started his company making Deardorff cameras he began his career customizing studio cameras for others. The front standard of this camera is extremely well made and looks to be around the same age as the camera. This camera is truly unique so if you feel you would have use for a camera with an extreme front rise such as this I’d advise you to pick it up as once its gone you will never see another. Check out my other auctions for many other are antique cameras. Due to its size it is sold “as-is”. I doubt this camera can be shipped internationally due to the size of the camera.
