Hey! Up for sale today I have a headlight hardware kit I put together after working on a friends FD which had stripped bolts. From what I understand this is a common problem with no easy solutions out there. The original oem hardware is not sold separately. I worked with several manufactures to put together this kit as closely as possible to the original hardware. These will install just as original, and with the new stainless pieces you shouldn’t have any issues in the future. I only have a few of these, but if there is enough interest I will make more. This kit is only intended to fit the FD3S Rx7 (93-95) -Each kit includes 8 Groups of hardware (32 piece total) to service both headlights on one car. This will replace any old corroded/stripped/lost bolts from your headlight top cover mounts.-Each kit has stainless steel screws/washer/lock washer, and steel zinc plated T-nuts.-Instructions are included in the package, but also written and shown here in the listing. -Please use common sense when installing these. Your dealing with 90s plastic, everything is brittle and can be damaged easily. You might find it easier to remove the flip up assembly to drill out all the bolts, but it can be done on the car without damaging anything if your careful. -Installation- Remove the front headlight cover. Then remove the top cover if possible. If you cant get the original screws out they will need to be drilled out. (Pic A) Start with a 1/8 drill bit and go down slightly to make a pilot hole for the next size. Follow that up with a 1/4 drill bit and drill until the head of the bolt pops off with the two washers. You are not trying to drill through the entire screw, just deep enough for the head to pop off. Be very careful here as you can damage the headlight cover easily. Take a small punch and carefully tap out all the original nuts. (Pic B) These are just press fit, and will tap out the opposite way with little force. Push in the new nuts the same way the original ones were installed. On the front use pliers and squeeze them in, alternating from side to side. (Pic C) On the rear ones use a screwdriver and tap them into place with a hammer. (Pic D) They should fit nice and snug, however its hard to account for any past damage or repairs that someone might have done, so if they are loose just use some rtv to hold them in place. Once the screws are in, everything will be held in place either way. Install your top headlight cover and make sure to put the screws in the original order like the factory was. The star washer will go against the headlight cover. So it will be Screw->Normal Washer->Star Washer->Headlight cover. You may notice that the new nuts protrude slightly. (Pic E) I have not found this to be an issue, the headlight covers will sit and center on it perfectly which I think is better for alignment. (Pic F) Enjoy your properly fastened headlight covers, that can now be easily removed for servicing, just as originally intended.
