1948 Large Bronze Medal The Society Of Medalists 37th Issue By Michael Lantz The Meek Shall Inherit The Earth For Your Medal Collection-MED425 Details Description: A nice large and heavy bronze medal from 1948. This is the Society of Medalists thirty seventh issue medal. The medal has the image of John the Baptist baptizing Jesus in the Jordan River with the legend “BLESSED* ARE*THE*MEEK*FOR*THEY*SHALL*INHERIT*THE*EARTH” within a dotted circle along the edge of the medal. The reverse shows a nude Salome holding the severed head of John the Baptist with a horse in the background. There is the name MICHAEL LANTZ 48 (c) below the image. The medal has a beautiful matte dark brassy patina. The edge of the medal is marked “The Society of Medalists Thirty Seventh Issue 1948-MIHAEL LANTZ Sculptor” and “Medallic Art Company N.Y. Bronze”. The medal has no wear with minimum surface marks or scratches. It has what I view as beautiful matte brassy patina. The medal is problem free and great looking.
