These exquisite figurines, crafted by DeRosa Artesania Rinconada include a first version elephant #719 and a #757 Silver anniversary Persian cat. Made in Uruguay and with no signs of previous handling, these figurines are retired works that come without their original boxes. The attention to detail and high-quality material make this figurine a true work of art that will be cherished for years to come. The elephant measures approximately 4″ tall to the top of his trunk X 3 1/8″ long X 2″ wide. The cat measures approximately 3 3/8″ tall X 3 3/4″ long X 2″ wide. Both have their original stickers on the underside. De Rosa Collections figurines are unique works of ceramic art designed by Uruguayan artisans and craftsmen. Expert hands skillfully create every new production, always under the supervision of the De Rosa family. Once a master design is approved, a mold is made and liquid ceramic is poured into this mold. When semi-dry the figurine’s form is removed from the mold; it is quite smooth and must be hand-carved before the moist ceramic hardens and becomes difficult to add texture, detail & personality. Each figurine is carved by hand; no two subjects are ever carved exactly the same. When the carving is completely finished the figurine is ready for its first kiln firing. The figurines are hand-painted with a variety of ceramic slips and bright enamel glazes. When completely each figurine once again needs to be fired in the kiln. The application of gold and platinum mark the final step. These precious metals are used not only to accent the personality of the figurines, but to transform the collection into the brightly colored jewels in the world of hand-crafted ceramic design.
