The design shown here is a brand new “Sierra” shelf from our Mountain Elegance line. Knotty Alder which has open knots and swirled graining is absolutely my favorite material to work with, then we add rope trim, a very large 5 1/2″ crown mold, distressing and glazing. The corbels are 9 layers wide creating a rich striping effect. Each Sierra and set of corbels are made one at a time so no two are alike. Originally I designed this shelf for my own home, but with so many friends and visitors asking for one of their own we’ve now included it as a standard style in our product line. Grown in the Northwestern regions of North America, Knotty Alder is a very unique wood with large and small, open and closed knots. Its swirled grain and sometimes even small splits or cracks give it a very distinct appearance. We stand behind our Mantels making certain that they are built safe and constructed well. We cannot guarantee knots or grain placement because letting its properties occur at random…well that’s just part of its natural beauty! Finish choices: Pick Any Stain Color You’d Like! The Sierra and corbels include everything just as you see it glazed and finished with a water resistant top coat. Everything needed for hanging and detailed instructions are also included.
