This a rare letter which accompanied second night tickets for the Original Broadway production of the CAROLYN LEIGH, MOOSE CHARLAP, JULE STYNE, BETTY COMDEN and ADOLPH GREEN version of the musical “PETER PAN” at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City. (The production opened October 20th, 1954 and ran for 152 performances.) ….. The musical starred the legendary MARY MARTIN as “Peter Pan” and CYRIL RITCHARD as “Captain Hook” and featured KATHY NOLAN, MARGALO GILLMORE, ROBERT HARRINGTON, HELLER HALLIDAY, JOSEPH STAFFORD, NORMAN SHELLY, RICHARD WYATT, DON LURIO, JOAN TEWKESBURY, DAVID BEAN, IAN TUCKER, STANLEY STENNER, PARIS THEODORE, ALAN SUTHERLAND, DARRYL DURAN, JOE E. MARKS, SONDRA LEE, ROBERT TUCKER, FRANK LINDSAY, WILLIAM BURKE, ROBERT VANSELOW, JAMES WHITE and SALLIE BROPHY ….. DETAILS: The typed letter was sent on October 13th, 1954 by MICHEL MOK to a lucky theatregoer receiving tickets for the October 21st, 1954 evening performance. MICHEL MOK (1889 – 1961) was a theatrical press agent and journalist. Born in the Netherlands, he immigrated to Canada and later to the U.S. where he worked as a reporter for the “New York Post”. In the mid-1940’s he associated himself with Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II for whom he handled publicity, public relations and scheduling of major productions. He also translated “The Works of Anne Frank” for Doubleday. The typed note measures 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ inches. The backside is blank …… CONDITION: With the exception of minor creasing, this rare correspondence is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
