This is a first-generation COPY of a signed script from THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW TV series (not a transcript or Photoshop recreation). The original 1975 script was signed by series star Mary Tyler Moore. A copy is being offered here. The script is from the memorable episode of the series titled “Chuckles Bites the Dust.” In the episode, Mary thinks that the death of Chuckles the Clown is nothing to laugh about — until she attends the funeral. The rest of the cast include Ed Asner, Ted Knight, Gavin MacLeod, Georgia Engel, and Betty White. The episode is the show’s top-rated episode and has been named as the greatest episode of television of all time. Longtime director Jay Sandrich didn’t think an episode about death was funny so first-time director Joan Darling directed it instead and was nominated for an Emmy. Writers James L. Brooks, Allan Burns, and David Lloyd won an Emmy for the episode. The script’s cover has been reproduced in color and an acetate sheet has been added to keep it looking pristine (to be honest, it looks better than the original). The script pages are printed on one side. Great care has been taken to make this a piece that a collector will be proud to own and show off or frame.
