A fantastic large antique original orientalist watercolor on paper Middle Eastern street entertainer scene by Gian Carlo Polidori (Italian, 1895-1962). This large and extremely unusual original orientalist watercolor on paper painting by Gian Carlo Polidori shows a fantastic figural circus-like street scene with a wealthy lady seated on a Persian rug being entertained by a street entertainer and a boy who play music to their muzzled dancing bear who’s quipped with a cane and a hoola hoop. Also in attendance is a mother with a young child on her back, a pipe smoking man and a bespectacled man selling the lady some jewelry. Boats, birds and architecture are seen in the background. The painting is signed lower right ‘C. Polidori Roma’. The painting is glazed and framed in a gold wood frame. The painting measures approximately 29 x 20 1/2 inches by sight, the frame measures about 47 x 35 inches. The painting is in general good condition with wonderfully bright colors. There are some small creases/tears to the lower right edge. The frame has a little minor wear. Please check all the pictures-there be some reflections from the glaze.
