Here is a packet of 5 paper drinking cups stapled into a paper outer wrapper that advertises the First National Bank of Shoemakersville, PA. The outside is made of paper with printing on one side that reads: A Friendly Bank For a warm day This package is just the thing; But for a rainy Have a Savings Account with FIRST NATIONAL BANK, SHOEMAKERSVILLE, PA. On the other side, it reads: SANITARY DRINKING CUPS (Pull out one when needed) FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF SHOEMAKERSVILLE, PA. A Friend to you when you need a Friend. You lift up the paper flap and find 5 flattened drinking cups attached to the wrapper with 2 staples. You are supposed to pull one out, and I guess squeeze the sides to make it round and then it can be filled with water or whatever. I don’t know how old this is, but I wouldn’t drink out of these cups, even though they have never been used. I couldn’t find any dates on it. I did find that this bank was started in 1920 on Main Street in Shoemakersville, and in 1976 it merged in and was the operated as part of the American Bank and Trust Co., of Reading, PA. I think these cups are older than the 1970s. The 5 cups have never been pulled out or used. The edges of the paper around the cups has rough edges and corners, some bent corners and some tears on the sides. There are 2 lines on the one side of the paper near where it says A Friend to you when you need a friend. Inside the cups are still attached to the outside paper, like a tablet, I don’t see any tears in the cups. Great for the advertising or banking collector, or the local historian. Shoemakersville is in Berks County, Pennsylvania, near the towns of Hamburg, Centerport, Mohrsville, and Leesport. Postage will be 4.50 to the U. S. IF OUTSIDE THE U.
