(PAIR) NOS DYNACO Screw-In Speaker Logo Badges — A10/A25/A25XL/A35/A40XL/A50 The ORIGINAL “Hood Ornaments” for your prized Dyna speakers! Way back in 1980 I made the purchase of a lifetime. It came at a troubled time of sky high inflation and interest rates, a failed President, hostages, gas lines. Hmm… Sound familiar? It was also a difficult time to be a U.S. audio manufacturer. One of the casualties was my beloved Dynaco. GI’s returning from Vietnam had done a lot of shopping at their PX’s, and they returned home with some pretty terrific JAPANESE audio gear from the likes of Pioneer, Sansui, Kenwood and Marantz. Both from a price standpoint and features-glamour appeal, it was a brutal environment in which to be competitive. Dyna was sold to speaker company ESS of Sacramento, CA. And ESS really had no interest in “the old electronic stuff.” But Dynaco had been my first audio dealership in 1978-1979. I had assembled their kits as Christmas gifts for my parents and in-laws. I LOVED the old stuff! I found out from my contact at ESS, George H, that a sale of the Dynaco PARTS inventory was in the works to Olson Electronics in Akron, Ohio. When I found that out, I said to George: “But I would like to buy that inventory!” “You WOULD?” George said in disbelief. In the end, my offer prevailed and a deal was struck. I realized that “Dynaco parts” were in a special category. Since many Dyna products had been purchased in kit form, and hand assembled by the purchaser, there was truly a special bond of “hands on loyalty” and “pride of ownership” that other audio brands did not share with their customers. When all the dust settled, the purchase of “The poor man’s McIntosh” parts totalled +/-250,000 pounds! SEVEN 48-foot trailer loads from Sacramento were shipped via Bay Area Piggyback rail to Chicago. Then, trucked to Canton, Ohio from there. The rated poundage of the trailers was 30,000# each. But one of the trailers had a nearly 60,000# load. (This was a trailer loaded floor to ceiling and to the trailer doors with Stereo 400 and Stereo 150 transformers + Dynaco’s hardware inventory.) The poor driver had to take back routes from Chicago to avoid weigh stations. And when he backed up to our dock, one of his axles snapped. My poor wife wept. “What are we going to DO with all this stuff?” What we did with all that material is a LONG story for another day. These speaker logos are notorious for breaking off during your “adventure in moving” and/or in shipment. This is the REAL DEAL ORIGINAL 1970’S DYNACO FACTORY PART! NOS purchased by my company directly from Dynaco (ESS) in 1979-1980 when the new ownership did away with all the “old stuff.” Other parts from that amazing purchase are L-O-N-G gone. It’s been 43 years, folks. Please don’t ask about other Dynaco parts. These were bulk packed by Dynaco — loose in one master carton and may have minor surface abrasions. We ship “best available” of this 100% ORIGINAL part. The A-25 Series was the largest selling bookshelf speaker of all time with over 1,000,000 in the field. And, unlike Dyna’s competition, the butyl rubber woofer surrounds don’t disintegrate… and never needed refoaming!
