The lens will work great on a 4×5 camera. It might also work okay with a 5×7 camera, though back movements would be sharply limited. The lens is in near perfect condition: there are no scratches, there is no fog, balsam separation or fungus. However, there is a very tiny amount of dust which is only visible upon close inspection and will not appear in photos. The Linhof shutter has a very slight amount of wear on the text (the black of the ‘M’ in “Compur” is slightly worn away) and on the lens barrel, but this is entirely a cosmetic issue. The aperture blades are clean. The shutter exposes accurately. The lens board is also in excellent condition, nearly brand new. I used this lens on my Linhof Technika IV and it always performed very well, but my photographing opportunities have been severely curtailed of late, so I’m parting with this lens for reasons that have nothing to do with its performance. I’ve included a 49mm Hoya UV filter. The lens has a beautiful depth-of-field for taking flattering portraits. It would make an excellent lens to add to a large format kit, one that would expand the photographer repertoire into portraiture. The lens is compatible with any 4×5 large format camera using a 95mm x 99mm lens board, and the board can always be swapped out for a different size if necessary.
