***********Although the ETA 2452 automatic movement runs strong it does gain nearly 3 minutes by the end of its approximate 38 hour power reserve period. A complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. Additionally, this is a midsize watch, measuring approximately 32 mm excluding the crown, approximately 34.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs.***********This seldom seen vintage 1960’s Tavernier has an originally blue “T SWISS MADE T” signed dial that has aged naturally and uniquely over time to a purplish tan hue. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a perfectly matching warm golden buttermilk patina. The blue bezel, which shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally, contrasts nicely with the dial. The all stainless steel case, which appears to have retained its original finish, shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “STAINLESS STEEL ANTIMAGNETIC INCABLOC AUTOMATIC SWISS MADE” with “20 ATM” followed by “2004” and “8365” stamped in the center. The crystal is heavily scratched.The 21 jewels ETA 2452 automatic movement with quickset date function is clean, keeps decent time and the date wheel rolls over at approximately 12 am. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then repeatedly moving the hour hand between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the brassed, non-screwdown replacement crown 39 full revolutions the movement gained nearly 3 minutes by the end of its approximate 38 hour power reserve period. Given that this watch is more than 50 years old, that the movement runs fast and considering its unknown service history (there is one visible watchmaker service marking on the inside of the case back that appears to date to 1977) a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.This watch measures approximately 32 mm excluding the crown, approximately 34.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11 mm. Given the vintage nature of this watch, that the movement runs a bit fast and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended.
