***********The manual wind movement loses about 5 minutes by the end of its approximate 38 hour power reserve period. Given this and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.*********** This vintage 1970’s Seawatch diver has a lovely glossy black “SWISS MADE T” signed tachy dial and the original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a warm buttermilk hue. The black bezel, which shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally, presents nicely. The chrome-plated case shows considerable wear and brassing. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “WATERPROOF 60 METRES – ANTIMAGNETIC – STAINLESS STEEL BACK – SWISS.” The crystal needs to be replaced. While I normally shows pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back on this watch is torqued too tight for me to remove. The manual wind movement runs strong, albeit slow, and the red date wheel rolls over at 12 am. It does not have a semi-quickset date function. After winding the non-screwdown crown 21 full revolutions the movement lost about 5 minutes by the end of its approximate 38 hour power reserve period. Given this and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. The lug to lug distance measures approximately 44 mm. A complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
