Rare and Unique Araya built Shimano Dura Ace AX Display bike. The Araya 821 display bicycle is an beautiful example of the Japanese bike industry’s craftsmanship and creativity in the 1980's. All of the Tange Tubing is Aerodynamically shaped to cheat the wind and the clock. These bikes were made at the request of Shimano to help showcase their new Dura Ace AX Aero components and were used at trade shows and sent to Pro shops to use as displays to encourage interest in Shimano products. All of the bikes were painted in a light blue paint to compliment the Dura Ace 7300 AX Aero groupset. The bike is as it was originally equipped with a full Shimano Dura Ace 7300 AX Aero group that was designed to cheat the wind like the frameset. Aero seatpost, Internally Aero routed brake cables, smooth headset, compact center pull brakes, center mounted shift levers with unique cable routing for both derailleurs, also both derailleurs were aerodynamically shaped, and the unique offset crankset with the amazing Dura Ace pedals. The build package is finished off with an Nitto Aero bar & stem combo and turbo saddle. The only non original equipment is the wheelset – MAVIC MA40 rims built on Shimano 105 hubs. This is a project bike it has only been cleaned for pictures it has not been refurbished or worked on in any way and is sold as is. I’m sure that it’ll be a work of art with a bit of elbow grease and time. The frame is in good condition but shows sign of use and slight surface oxidization. The groupset is also in good used condition only needing toeclips & straps, brake hoods, and a couple small brake parts to complete it add bar tape, cables & housing, and a chain and your good to ride.
